Colorful details, sequins, and personal touches filled the day for Cybil and Mike’s Hotel Valley Ho wedding in Scottsdale. Cybil and Mike were so much fun to work with and they had so many unique, personal details that really made the day their own. I’m so excited that Cybil and Mike brought me on as their Scottsdale wedding photographer! Read more and enjoy the gilded details from this Scottsdale wedding at Hotel Valley Ho.
Unique, historic locations are always exciting to see as an Scottsdale wedding photographer. Hotel Valley Ho stands as an iconic mid-century fixture in downtown Scottsdale. It once was the host to Hollywood favorites, Bing Crosby, Tony Curtis, and Janet Leigh. Towering palm trees, vibrant colors, and mid-century architecture made Hotel Valley Ho the perfect place for Cybil and Mike to host their modern nuptials.
Cybil and Mike first met at a friend’s birthday party during their college years in Tuscon. What was a failed attempt at setting Mike up with a friend, ended up being the beginning of their 11-year relationship. The couple share a love for hockey and skating and made sure to include some fun details in their wedding, including a ceremony puck drop!
The First Look!
The first look is always a favorite wedding day moment as a photographer, and for many couples. The anticipation was building and it was all smiles and hugs when the moment finally arrived to see each other.
Guests were surrounded by colossal palm trees in the hotel’s lush courtyard for the wedding ceremony. Bloom and Bluprint created a bold ceremony backdrop with metallic palm leaves, pampas grass, and lots of rich colors. The highlight of the ceremony? When the couple brought out hockey sticks for a unity ceremony in the form of a puck drop!
The bold, colorful details continued to the wedding reception. A custom sign greeted guests as they entered the ballroom to find their seats. Gold metallic details from palm leaves, to Marais chairs, and glittery paint strokes on the cake made up the unique design details for this Scottsdale wedding.
Favorite Detail: Guest’s had an opportunity to brush up on creative writing when prompted to write a poem on a vintage typewriter.
