Sonia and Lyle’s Chateau Luxe wedding in Phoenix was full of personal and cultural details that made this day extra meaningful for the couple. A gorgeous Sofreh Aghd spread that was put together by family mixed with American customs like reading vows to make this day a beautiful blend of cultures and traditions.
Before gathering with all of their family and friends on their wedding day, Sonia and Lyle chose to have a more intimate ceremony the previous summer to make things official. The day was perfectly intimate with their closest family and friends.
Sonia and Lyle met while in college at Arizona State University and were introduced by a mutual friend. The rest was history after Lyle was Sonia’s designated driver at the end of the night. The couple shares a passion for keeping house plants alive and loves to go on new travels together.
A family tradition they included was having all of the married women in their family perform a traditional ritual. The women ground sugar over their heads to wish for a sweet and happy future together. A special moment for the couple was feeding each other honey to bring sweetness into their lives.
Sonia shares:
“We promised to forever bring each other sweetness and to see our reflection in the Sofreh Aghd mirror as we journey through life together. These traditions and intimate moments added an extra layer of love and meaning to our wedding day and made it even more memorable.”
The Sofreh Aghd had been hand painted and carefully decorated by Sonia’s mother. Another extra special touch was the flower arrangements created by Sonia’s aunt.
The evening was full of dancing and laughter. A unique touch the couple loved was a traditional Persian “knife dance” in which Lyle had to bribe people holding a knife. The energy and excitement was contagious as you can see on everyone’s faces.
Sonia shares her favorite part of the day:
“Aside from the obvious joy of marrying my soulmate, one of my favorite moments of the day was when our close friends and family remained in the venue after midnight. There’s something truly special about being able to celebrate with the people closest to you and share an intimate moment after such a big day. We danced, drank, and threw money around in a celebratory atmosphere, making memories that we will cherish forever. It was the perfect ending to a beautiful day, surrounded by the people who mean the most to us.”
